so, why the lighthouse?

because nothing else exists like it.

The Need

There's a plethora of crisis and suicide lines, but what about those times you can't call? Domestic violence, abuse, mental illnesses and anxiety are just a few reasons people aren't picking up the phone.

The IDEA

Crisis and suicide intervention via chat aren't new concepts. None of those services that exist, though, are open 24/7/365, or are accessible by anyone in the world, anytime, as long as you have an Internet connection.

The Plan

We started out as a few friends with a dream, and quickly blossomed into a 24/7 active Discord server. Everyone helps out here, not just the staff; our peer-driven community is close-knit and always available.

the execution

Clear communication balanced with an intelligent, quick-witted moderation team and at the heart, a true desire to help. These qualities keep The Lighthouse afloat, even amongst chaos. We run a tight ship and our members know it; it shows in the help we provide daily and in the community we've built.

The future

We've saved lives and changed outcomes for the better. Why stop there, though? Why not keep going? Our to-do list includes migrating from Discord to a privately-built platform online, garnering non-profit status and securing funding to provide suicide intervention training to staff as needed.
